Dr Hughie Tsang
Ophthalmic Surgeon, Cataract, Glaucoma, Paediatric, Pterygium, Strabismus & Medical Retina

Dr Tsang is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and an Ophthalmic Surgeon having graduated from his medical degree in Queensland in 1998. He has worked in various Ophthalmology Departments of several major hospitals in New South Wales for over 15 years, including The Prince of Wales Hospital, the Sydney Eye Hospital and The Sutherland Hospital. Dr Tsang has published widely in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals and also mentors trainee ophthalmologists both within NSW and overseas.

His regular surgical lists include Cataract, Pterygium, Glaucoma Surgery, Blepharoplasties, and Squint surgery.  He is experienced in looking after patients with cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, dry eyes, complex general ophthalmology including paediatric ophthalmology, and strabismus eye conditions.

Dr Hughie Tsang is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Otago, New Zealand and completing Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) at the University of Sydney, Dr Chen underwent specialist ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital. He further completed a fellowship in comprehensive ophthalmology as the Senior Registrar at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. 

Dr Chen then travelled abroad to complete three further subspecialty fellowships in Medical Retina (Taiwan), Cataract and Refractive Surgery (Australia), and Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (Solomon Islands, Alice Springs NT). He was awarded the prestigious Sydney Eye Hospital Alumni Association Travelling Scholarship. 

Dr Chen takes pride in keeping up-to-date with the evidence and latest advances in ophthalmology and is actively involved in research. He has written several publications and has presented at multiple conferences. He has also been involved in the training of future Ophthalmologists as a former Clinical Associate Lecturer and current Adjunct Lecturer at the University of New South Wales. 

Besides English, Dr Chen is fluent in Chinese, Mandarin, Taiwanese and basic Cantonese.
